5s Floor Marking Tape Color Scheme
The rule of the thumb in lean marketing is that anybody who will be stepping in the workplace can be able to identify the flow of work that is going on in sixty seconds. The best way to establish this is by the installation of floor marking tape for effective visualization. It is the starting point of the “setting in order” of 5s. The floor marking tape creates pattern as well as order in the workplace that reduces confusion in searching.
The Use of Color Coordination
In order to enhance 5s initiatives and standardize floor markings, companies are enjoined to use the color guide for floor marking per OSHA color standard 1910.144. This color scheme can be used for visual separation processes, pathways, and workplaces. Additionally, it is recommended to identify location of products, materials, tools, and equipment in the storage facility. Apparently, the color scheme limits the colors for the purposes of encouraging quick learning, and easy recognition of stations at the working area. The color scheme can be conveniently modified to suit the companies specific operation processes, priorities, and to characterize individual facilities.

• Green, Blue, and/or Black, border color for components and materials including finished goods, work-in-process, and raw materials.
